Read the following passage and answer the questions

Constuition guarantees every citizen the fundamental right to equality. after 50 years of independence, just one perusal of the female infant mortality figures, the literacy rate and the employment opportunities for women is sufficient evidence that discrimination exists. Almost predictably, this gender, bias is evident in our political system as well. in the 13th Lok Sabha, there were only 43 women MPS out of a total of 543; it is not a surprising figure, for never has women's representation in parliament been more than 10%.

Historically, the manifestos of major political parties have always encouraged women's participation. it has been nearly a charade. So, women's organisations, denied a place on merit, opted for the last resort: a reservation of seats for women in Parliament and state assemblies. Parties, which look at everything with a Boat Bank in mind, seemed to endorse this. Alas, this too was a mirage.

but there is another aspect also. at a time when cast is the trump card, some politicians want the bill to include further quotas for women from among minorities and backward castes. there is more to it. it services that there is a general antipathy towards the bill. it is actually a classic case of doublespeak: in public, politicians where endorsing Women's Reservation but in the backrooms of parliament, they were busy sabotaging it. the reasons are clear: man just don't want to vacate their seats of power.

UGC-NET General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude (Paper I) Papers

NET stands for National Eligibility Test. This test is conducted by the University Grants Commission twice in a year. The test is conducted in the month of June and December. This test is the entrance to having a lectureship or becoming eligible for Junior Research Fellowship. The subjects in which the test is conducted are Social Sciences, Humanities, Environmental Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Electronic Science and Computer Science and Applications. For other science subjects the test is conducted in collaboration with the CSIR and the test is known as CSIR-UGC NET. Here we give the pattern of the General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude (Paper I).

The paper is of duration one hour and fifteen minutes. The maximum marks are 100. There are 50 questions in the paper. All the questions are multiple choice type questions. Each question is provided with four options out of which only one is correct. There is no negative marking. The questions are on general knowledge, basic mathematics, and general awareness. The test aims to test the eligibility of the candidate for being a teacher, so the questions are that way only. Also one can expect comprehension and questions will be based on that also.

What is Research Aptitude for UGC NET?

The word research is derived from the Latin word “to know”. It is the art of Scientific Investigation that indicates to search for something new i.e., new ideas, new conclusions, and new theory.

There are several definitions of Research Aptitude defined by the different professors:

According to Young PV, “Research is “the systematic method of discovering new facts or verifying old facts, their sequences, interrelationships, causal explanations, and the natural laws which govern them”.

According to Clifford Woody, “Research comprises defining and redefining the problems formulating a hypothesis or suggesting solutions, collecting, organizing, and evaluating data, making deductions and researching conclusions, and at last carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they fit the hypothesis”.

According to Professor Lundberg, “A systematic method through which observed information and data are classified, generalized and verified is known as research”.

Step 1: Formulation of the Research Problem:

The first step of a research journey is the formulation of a research problem or topic.

Researchers define the area of research by identifying the problem or research topic. They decide the area of interest of a particular subject or a study of the previous year’s research work.

Step 2: Developing Research Proposal:

After selecting the research topic or problem, the second step is to develop a plan of investigation for the Research Proposal.

Step 3: Development of Working Hypothesis:

After creating the research proposal, it is necessary to assume the situations and to do research studies which are known as hypotheses.

Step 4: Preparing Research Design:

It is the conceptual framework on which the research to be done. The main aim of research design is to take maximum output with minimum possible expenditure, time, and effort.

Step 5: Determine Sample Design:

A population is divided into small subgroups derived as a sample of the study. The sample design is a framework, or road map, that serves as the basis for the selection of a survey sample.

Step 6: Collection of Data:

The collection of data can be divided into two categories:

Primary Data: It can be collected through new experiments, surveys, group discussions, questionnaires, etc.

Secondary Data: This type of data has already been collected & passed by someone else through the statistical process.

Steps 7: Execution of The Research Project:

The execution or implementation of research is important as the Researcher observes that the project is executed systematically.

Step 8: Analysis of Data:

After collecting the data, it should be arranged properly and classified into two categories -

Irrelevant Data - It should be separated.

Relevant Data - It is coded into symbols so that it may be tabulated.

The tabulation is a part of a technical procedure that has classified data in the table form.

Step 9: Hypothesis - Testing:
